Bloody Men

Bloody Men/ Wendy Cope

Bloody men are like bloody buses
You wait for about a year
And as soon as one approaches your stop
Two or three others appear.
You look at them flashing their indicators,
Offering you a ride.
You're trying to read the destinations,
You haven't much time to decide.
If you make a mistake, there is no turning back.
Jump off, and you'll stand there and gaze
While the cars and taxis and lorries go by
And the minutes, the hours, the days.

======================================

Several days ago, my friend share the poem above with me, hoping I could appreciate it.
The words is quite understandable but meaningful.

The writer, Wendy Cope, who is one of Britain's leading poets. Her books Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis and Serious Concerns (Faber and Faber, 1986 and 1992) are both best sellers, and she has won several awards.
However, it seems to me that Cope's poems are also genuinely satirical at times. They project the stereotypical image of a woman who nags, but is still bound to romance.

Cope's poem and her theory may be far more complex. But I think that I just want to reading it and enjoy it for relax:)
